Trek@kumara Parvatha

I heard that kp is the toughest trek in karnataka from one of my brother... lets see how difficult it's..!!! myself and my bindas friends(ajay(cool and calm),sanjay(energetic),Sunil(stamina) and last myself(can't predict me), met together one day and finally four of us are decided to go on 1st Feb 2013. Since v r trekking kp for the first time ,so we don't know the exact routes  but still  we have  bundle of confidence and energy that we will carry to reach kp. before 4 days back v ave taken a new hiking tent(T3+) and we reserved a ticket before a day .we assembled at Bangalore railway station at 8:15 PM on Jan 31st. The train to Man galore arrived at 8:55PM, on time. After a few leisure talks we went to sleep, all excited about the day to come. We have reached subramanya in the morning 5am and we got a ksrtc bus after 10mins,to subramanya

About KP:
Kumara parvatha, also called as Pushpagiri is situated in the Somvarpet Taluk of Coorg District.the peak is at a height of about 1712mts and it is 14.5km trek from the  base of subramanya temple, from the temple it is approx 1.5km to starting point.
There are two ways to reach Kp.
  • from Kukke subramanya(14km),its little bit tough(8/10).
  • from bidhalli side(7km),its a easier route(5/10)
We decided to trek from Kukke subramanya side which is considered to be toughest trek.
Lets begin the show,
Day 1:
we went  to take bath in the early morning 6:15am at kumara dhara river located near by, after a quick freshening up, , we visited a  famous temple kukke subramamya and we had a good darshana. then we had break fast in a kumara krupa hotel near the temple at 9am ,arranged for water bottles and other things took 30mins(glucose,biscuits,orange,etcthen).
So finally we started our trek at 9:30am from the base, delayed by  half an hour as per our plans still its ok. the figure showing  below it is starting point of dense forest, the board that showing behind it is towards KP(starting point).

First 5km is fully steep climb through the dense forests, but fortunate thing for us is we went on a non monsoon season,so leeches will not be there. the first few kilometers was very strenuous .since i had  not trekked for a  few months now. it was really difficult for me to shift trekking mode. we were drinking  water at regular intervals to keep us going because the humidity is very high there.. and taking break every 15 mins...

1st landmark(Bheema's Rock):
After trekking 2 hours around 3km in dense forest .so we reached 1st landmark i.e bheema's rock,(Bheema kallu). we ate some fruits that v had taken and rested for while...Especially Oranges helped for us to re-energize.

2nd Landmark(Bhattara mane(bhatta's house):
We have reached bhattaru mane(bhatta's house) at around 1:30pm .. this is the place where u can get food,water....here u ave to order food on the previous day of the trek. they will provide unlimited meals(rice, sambar, pickle, butter milk) and “battara mane butter milk” is "super" do u believe this is all just for 80 bucks... I can say its more than worth,,we filled our stomach fully .... and we slept for about 2 hours and as per our plan to reach sheshparvatha by that evening. So we left battara mane at 3:30pm.

First View Point:
We Proceeded towards first view point ,from battara mane its just around 300mts and spending time by taking few snaps.

Again just 5mins walk from first view point  to forest office in grassland ,where we had to pay  200 bucks  per head as a trekking fees. again after walking 10mins from there where we get 2nd view point ,the time we reached second view point it was around 4pm..once we reach 2nd view point just we were scared by seeing dis cow  pic.

wasted half an hour arguing whether to go or not,by the time it was around 4:30pm and even we could not reach kallu mantapa ,the same day .so finally by wasting half an hour we decided to return back to forest office  to camp there whole night .before pitching a tent in same place we decided to play cricket ,in front of forest office with people who are surviving there....

Cricket in Forest:
Till  now no trekkers has played cricket over there...proudly we can say we are the first group has played forest cricket over there..with some of the people belonging to forest office department and bhattara mane(harish, puni, shamnath bhatt). It was an amazing experience, that we never played before in forest ...i can call it as “Jungle Cricket”

After playing cricket we pitched our tents there only. since we had a  tent with us that could house 4 people along with language .two of them have arranged tent. me and sanjay collected  woods in forest to put camp fire..but we didn't put camp fire since we were so tired even my legs was paining so much .literally i was screaming for that .later we cooked MT R's ready made puliyogare mix and also rice for dinner and slept early in tent followed by dinner.
